Introduction

The Condamine River is located on the western side of the Great Dividing Range and is the main drainage of the Condamine Basin (basin 4223). The Condamine River Alluvium Murray's Bridge to Cunningham GMU is located in the Warwick Shire and includes the Parishes of North Toolburra, South Toolburra, Leslie, Warwick, Rosenthal, Cunningham and Wildash. It extends over an area of 68 sq km. The town of Warwick is situated in the centre of the GMU with Toowoomba to the north-east of the GMU boundary. The Condamine River Alluvium Murrays Bridge to Cunningham GMU is drained in a westerly direction by the Condamine River is and the tributary streams including Swan Creek, Rosenthal Creek, Campbells Gully, Glengallan Creek and Sandy Creek.

The Condamine River Alluvium Murray's Bridge to Cunningham GMU is highly developed with a high density of extraction bores. Groundwater extracted from the alluvial aquifers is used for domestic supply, irrigation, stockwatering, town supply, industrial, stock intensive. Groundwater is of good quality and suitable for most purposes. Suface water from the Leslie Dam is used conjunctively with groundwater supplies for the irrigation of crops.

The GMU experiences a temperate climate with an average annual rainfall of 685 mm. Approximately 67% of rainfall occurs between the months of October and March, inclusive.
