Basin & Surface Water Management Area: Baffle Creek
Introduction
Baffle Creek SWMA has a catchment area of 2860 sq km. It is situated between Gladstone and Bundaberg. Baffle Creek flows to the sea at the Port of Baffle Ck, some 15km from the town of Rosedale. The major tributaries of Baffle Ck include Granite, Colosseum and Murrays Creeks. Other creeks in the system to the north of the catchment includes Sandy and Pine Creeks. To the north-west, the catchment is bounded by the Many Peaks Range and to the south by the Dawes and Watalgan Ranges. Eurimbula National Park is located to the north-east of the catchment (Bustard Bay) area.
The mean annual rainfall for the catchment for the 50 year period 1920-1969 varies between 900-1400 mm across the catchment.

This SWMA is in an isolated area with little or no development. Rainfall is distinctly seasonal and extremely variable on an annual basis. There is little demand water in this catchment due to its isolation and low population.
