TORRENS RIVER
Assessment Of River Condition
The Torrens River Basin rises in the Adelaide Hills 50 km to northeast of the CBD. The main channel flows through Adelaide meeting the coast at Glenelg. Rainfall ranges from 450 mm at the coast to 1050 mm in upland regions. It contains major urban water supply infrastructure: Millbrook and Kangaroo Creek Reservoirs, and Hope Valley Reservoir and Filtration Plant. The western regions are urban, eastern and upland regions contain grazing, horticulture and forestry.
The Torrens River Basin (504) ARCE was substantially modified and the ARCB was in reference condition. The basin condition was substantially modified based on the hydrological disturbance index, substantially modified based on the catchment disturbance index, moderately modified based on the habitat index and moderately modified based on the nutrient and suspended load index.
